But the karts had quite some differences in speed and handling !!  =-O  It makes you dizzy ! ;-)

The kart drawing was going to play a big role in the results !

Track checking is done ...                                             ... so we went for a last training.

As my team mate Kei just arrived 2 days before the start of IKWC 2008 we did an extra training on Sunday.

In no time, Kei learned the racing lines. The long flight from Japan didn't make a difference to him !

... and everyone followed !! =-O  :-)

Aahh, now we know why ... we had to come up for a weight check and ...

... the briefing.

The briefing took quite some time ...                               ... some of us needed energy afterwards ! ;-D

Finally we could start our qualifying races. Underneath some pictures during these races.

When Kei was racing, here at the start from pole position, Chikako was driving with him from the stands !

... or did she stand up to honour the Japanese flag ?  ;-) Seriously now, we were proud having them in our team !

Ooohhh... did the Marshal made a mistake ??? ... did he had a headache  ??? ... or were the Brazilians hard to judge ??

Kristof had to drive in the last heat the first day. And believe me ... in the late afternoon, it was extremely "hot" !

We had to drive a lot, but we've talked a lot too !           Still warm at the third day of IKWC !

The "Waaihof" dinner was accepted gratefully by all drivers !

Last day of qualifying heats. I needed a good result to get in the final !

With the right fluid, positive thinking and for the honour of my (team)name, I went for it and gave all of me ...

But first to go was my friend and team mate Kei.

Luck failed him with the "lottery" of the kart numbers. A pit stop with kart change, didn't make a difference ...

... the second kart was even worse then the first one !

Relaxing before our heat ...                                          ... while the heavy's with our team mate Stefan took off.

Body language shows the disappointment for just missing the final.  And then I had to try to qualify myself !  

It looked bad. The kart "lottery" was again not in my advantage. I changed the kart and this one was better.

Not a super kart and I had to come from last place due to the pit stop with change of kart.

Meanwhile an international discussion of the past heat took place. ;-)

The Worldkart chassis was stiffer then the Alpha, so I could "work" better with it in the corners ...

... and during the race I managed to drive myself to a fourth place. I reached my goal, and could drive in the final !

Friday, the final. I was keen on a revenge and went for a good result. On points it was impossible to end on the

podium for the final results. But winning the final race would make up a hole lot for me.

Kart lottery !! It wasn't my thing and as usual a had one of the worst karts again !!! =-O

I took 2 pit stops for kart change. Lost lot of time with it, but finally I had a good kart. After just 3 or 4

minutes I drove fastest and second fastest laps ! :-) As the devil was there !! After 10 minutes the driving belt

of my good kart was broken !! =-(  =-O  I lost five laps before I got an other kart. Again a bad kart ! My race

was over ! Still I had a great week meeting lot of drivers from all over the world and kept a lot of friends from it.  

                                                                                 Overall winner for the light class was Gregory Laporte,

who shared his "joy" (?? and tears !!) with his brother Thimoty. Well done Greg and congratulations !!

After the final for the heavies everyone came together for the podiums and prize-giving.

And then the end was near. We had to say good bye to our friends.
